Packard stepped up to solve a critical challenge facing a major player in Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD). The existing drilling valves were not optimized for seamless mud circulation during vital operations. Specifically, our customer needed a solution that would allow mud flow even when the valve was closed—a crucial requirement for adding new sections of pipe.
Exploration: Customization and Lengthening
We collaborated closely with the customer to determine how to incorporate a side entry port and plug and extend the length of their specialized drilling valve. This innovative modification allowed mud circulation to continue below the closed valve, ensuring uninterrupted drilling processes.

The Packard non-stop drilling valve now facilitates mud circulation even when closed. When adding a new stand of pipe, the valve’s unique design ensured that drilling operations remained efficient and fluid.
